F.A.Q's:
What is a Web site?
By going through a simple two step sign up process, you can establish a professional looking, personalized Web site
for yourself or your business. Your Web site even has built-in powerful communication and collaboration capabilities.
With your Web site, you can:
- Attract customers and partners
- Use your Web site to increase your sales and marketing efforts
- Communicate information about your products and services
- Use Public and Private folders to exchange files with visitors
- Post graphics, photos, and links to other Web pages
A Web site increases your sales and marketing efforts by establishing a cost-effective presence on the Web. You can
utilize the site's powerful communication tools to help reduce phone tag; lower long distance and conference calling
fees; and dramatically increase the quality of your customer service and the visibility of your business.
How much does a Web site cost?
Every web site is different, which makes it impossible to set standard pricing. This being the case, all web developers
use different methods to determine the cost for web design. We will describe some of the most common methods for
web site pricing below.
Charging Hourly:
A very common way for web designers to charge is by the hour. Depending on the experience, location, and many other
factors, the hourly rate can be anywhere from $75.00 to $300.00 per hour! This is a huge difference but I have seen both
and just about everything in between. The important thing is to make sure the web developer is worth their rate. Always
check with the designers past clients and remember - you really do "get what you pay for".
Per Project Pricing
Many web design firms will give you a set price to complete your project. Make sure you have a thorough and complete
requirements list before you begin the project.
Corporate web site
Corporate or commercial site goes beyond the basic on-line brochure. More complex sites feature a greater level of
interactivity and database integration. You may need a private intranet for employee communication and document
sharing, or an extranet to share information and track vendors and/or customers. Corporate web sites usually start
around $5,000 and can go as high as $100,000 depending on the complexity.
Interactive Database Site
A complex interactive site has a large amount of back-end programming. More complex sites feature a greater level of
interactivity and database integration. Most complex corporate sites consist of data driven content and dynamically
generated pages. The amount of pages is not as relevant as the amount of programming involved. The most important
aspect to an interactive site is that its easy to navigate, fast, and scalable. These web sites usually start around $15,000
and can go as high as $250,000 depending on the complexity.
Back end programming can be done in a variety of different languages, some of the more popular server-side
languages are PHP and ASP. Web Interfaces are normally written in CSS and HTML. If you don't know what these
languages are, don't worry, let your designer or programmer make a recommendation.
E-Commerce Site:
E-commerce websites can range from very simple to very complex. There are quite a few things to consider when
preparing to budget an e-commerce site.
There are a wide range of service providers, more experienced and "in-demand" providers may charge premium prices, while beginners may
work very cheap but lack experience. Different skill sets demand different pay scales. If you choose the lowest price possible you will
probably not get any qualified providers to respond.
What does my Web site service include?
Your Web site service includes Web pages you can quickly and easily personalize, integrated communication
capabilities, 10MB of storage for files, graphics and other documents, and a wide range of collaboration tools. These
tools include:
- Public and Private folders for exchanging files with anyone who has internet access.
- Areas to post your graphics, photos and favorite Web page links to share on the Web.
How will visitors find my Web site on the Internet?
In order to be found by an Internet Search engine, such as Yahoo! or InfoSeek, Web pages use an embedded code
called a META tag. META tags are part of the HTML code and contain things such as keywords, or a short description of
the Web page, that are indexed on the Search engine.
Your Web site comes with an area to add customizable META tags in the HTML coding. You will need to have your meta
tag keywords and descriptions prepared before submitting your site to the Search Engines. Meta tags can be created in
the setup area of your site (under Preferences). For more information on Meta tags and registering with Search
Engines, please call us at any time.
How do I get customer support for my Web site?

have the information that you need. Also, you can select the Customer Support link to submit questions and receive a
response via email.
